Artist Biography

Kam is an artist, born and raised in Penang. Due to his family upbringings he first ventured into science, teaching for almost 11 years while pursuing his studies part time. To balance the ‘work and study life’ stress, art making was his escape route. Soon after he obtained his PhD, he quit his job and moved back to Penang to pursue arts, right before the pandemic hit his country. It took him almost a year to reboot his life before he landed a gig, K[otak]ku Virtual Residency and Exhibition. He now reconnects with his childhood memories of building sandcastles by the beach, choosing clay as his main medium of study.
